Irvine, CA. Santa Ana Winds FC defeated LA Wolves FC at Championship Stadium at Orange County Great Park in a 3-1 comeback victory in UPSL play. The win put Winds FC in sole possession of 3rd place with a record of 6 wins, 1 loss and 3 ties, ahead of LA Wolves. Both clubs recently qualified to the 2018 US Open Cup. The game was Santa Ana's first played at Championship Stadium.

Winds FC looked the better side in the first half, knocking the ball around at will, but struggled to convert on chances created. LA Wolves made Winds FC pay by striking first in the 26th minute on a deflected shot. Both teams created more chances before the first half closed with the score at 1-0 in LA's favor.

The second half opened with Winds FC pressed forward seeking an equalizer, leaving counterattacking opportunities for Wolves. LA had two clear missed opportunities which could've left a different mark on the match. Santa Ana finally broke through in the 58th minute on a deflected free kick that striker Jordan Gorman knocked in.

Santa Ana turned up the intensity of their vertical game leading to the go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute on a long diagonal pass by Kramer Runager who found A’kwafei Ajeakwa 1v1 with a Wolves defender causing a failed clearance and shot to the back of the net. Winds FC kept their intensity up particularly in their high press breaking down the Wolves backline to midfield connections. One of these turnovers led to the final goal of the night, a right-footed blast by Kramer Runager in the 72nd minute, assisted by Jordan Gorman.
